Who are Advocates?

CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates, are community volunteers trained to advocate for children in foster care. Our advocates ensure the child's voice is heard and the child's best interests are represented in the courtroom.

Our program has been making an impact in Houston County since 1991. By advocating with CASA of Houston County, you can help us achieve our mission of providing advocacy and support for abused and neglected children in our community.

What do Advocate Do?

CASA volunteers receive specialized training to understand the legal system and the needs of children in foster care. They learn about topics such as child abuse, the foster care system, the judicial process, and cultural competence. The training also provides skills to help volunteers identify the needs of children, communicate effectively with professionals, and make well-informed recommendations to the court.
